Britney Spears's new single 3

Britney Spears's new song 3 debuted this morning on z100. It's very catchy and is in the same vein as If U Seek Amy, both in style and lyrical content (it's about threesomes :-P). Here is the single cover artwork and the song.

The only thing I don't like about the lyrics is the namechecking of Peter, Paul and Mary. I wouldn't care for the reference to begin with because even though I "get it" I find it unnecessary and a bit silly, especially given the kind of music they made, but it's also odd because Mary Travers happens to have just died September 16th. But it is a fun, upbeat song, and I like it a lot.

3 is the lead single off of Britney's forthcoming compilation The Singles Collection, which is out November 24th. It will be available in a standard one disc edition and an ultimate fan box set.

According to HMV Japan, there is a Japanese bonus track called It's All In The Game. And according to Wikipedia, this is a cover of the 1958 song performed by Tommy Edwards. But we all know how reliable wiki is, so we'll see.

ULTIMATE FAN BOX SET

This box set includes all 29 of Britney's singles plus 3. Each single is on its own disc with its own sleeve case with original artwork. Each one will include a b-side or a remix of the track. There is also a DVD with all of Britney's videos in chronological order (woohoo!!!) and a special booklet with pictures and trivia about each track. (I'm definitely buying this edition.)
