Dexter season 4 kills

Showtime's spectacular show Dexter premiered its fourth season on Sunday September 27th. The first airing had 1.5 million viewers, which is an all time high for the series. This is 25% more viewers than last season's premiere as well as the most watched series airing for any show in 5+ years.

Californication's third season premiere also hit a viewer peak with 821,000. This is a 57% increase over last season's premiere. Read the full article here.

Dexter is a fantastic show, and clearly there are many people who agree with me. The show has been nominated at the Emmys for Outstanding Drama Series the last three years, and Michael C. Hall has been nominated for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series all those years as well. He nor the show have ever won. I have the feeling that the show's subject matter may have something to do with it.

For those of you who aren't familiar with it, Dexter is about the title character, Dexter Morgan, who is a serial killer. But he only kills bad people. His adoptive father recognized that he was...different, and knowing that he would have to kill to satiate his "Dark Passenger", he taught Dex a code to define who he should kill. Although plenty of twisted and open-minded people such as myself (hehe) watch and love the show, I'm pretty sure even more people would complain that it is offensive and should be taken off the air. There's always some group of people trying to squash the entertainment people enjoy instead of simply not watching the show they claim to hate so much. Trust me, the show is truly phenomenal, as is Michael C. Hall's acting, as well as the rest of the cast. In my opinion, it is the best show on television.

Dexter has already been renewed for a fifth season as well. So at least there are now two more chances the show has to win the awards it definitely deserves.

Californication (which is awesome as well, but I've been an inconsistent viewer) is on Sundays at 10 pm on Showtime, following Dexter at 9 pm. Visit Dexter on myspace, facebook, twitter, the show's official site, and check out its online store, which has lots of goodies.

Kylie production rehearsals video

The gorgeous Kylie Minogue has posted the following video showing some behind the scenes snippets of her highly anticipated first ever North American tour.

Kylie's dedicated fans in the USA and Canada have waited a very long time to see the Aussie popstar live in concert. And finally we have our chance! I have been convinced for years that I would be forced to fly to the United Kingdom or somewhere in Europe in order to see her. It is so exciting that the American fans finally get their own tour in their homeland!

Kylie first got noticed in the United States when her cover of Little Eva's Locomotion made it to number 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1988. Although she had a couple other top 40 hits, she somehow fell off the American radar. Finally, in 2002, her huge album Fever was released here. It was certified platinum and reached #3 on the Billboard Top 200 Albums chart. She is best known stateside for its hit lead single Can't Get You Out Of My Head which went to number 7 on the Hot 100, and number 1 in over 40 other countries. Although her next three albums, Body Language, Ultimate Kylie (a career spanning greatest hits collection), and X were all released here, bad timing and minimal press and promotion caused them to go unnoticed.

Kylie has also dabbled in acting, appearing on television series The Sullivans, Skyways, and The Henderson Kids as a child. She first became famous for her fole as Charlene on hit Aussie show Neighbours. She left in 1988 to pursue her music career, which has of course paid off in spades. She also appeared in movies such as The Delinquents, Street Fighter, Bio-Dome, Cut, Sample People, and Moulin Rouge.

Most Americans have no idea how much music Kylie has put out over the years, which is ironic because in much of the world, she is an A-list superstar, frequent tabloid target, style icon, and pop princess. But her loyal fans stateside have all known, loved, and appreciated her and her music for 22 years and counting.

Good luck at the first show Kylie! See you in New York!

The Beatles Rock Band is amazing

I got The Beatles Rock Band for Xbox 360 the day it came out, and boy, is it awesome. So far I've mostly just been singing (and sounding terrible), but I played the guitar a couple times. On easy. Because I suck. I'll check out the drums eventually, but I enjoy singing despite sounding like I'm in immense pain. The graphics are beautiful and really add to the experience. I knew if they were going to do this game they would do it right and it does not disappoint. It looks real, surreal, and fantastic all at once. The song selection is also great. There are songs from all the periods of their career. All four members of the band are represented vocally, as there are songs with lead vocals by each member.

I'm pretty pleased with that selection as is, and very excited at the idea of more songs/albums being available for download, especially Rubber Soul. My only complaint is the mashup of Tomorrow Never Knows and Within You Without You. I love those two songs a lot on their own and would like to play them separately. Plus I happen to have a lot of trouble singing Within You Without You, so I'd like to be able to ignore it and sing the entire Tomorrow Never Knows instead of two lines of it. Within You Without You will be playable separately when Abbey Road is released October 20, so at least we will have that one soon. I still need a wireless adapter for the Xbox 360 though. I really don't want to cough up $100 right now.

Personally, I'm awful at singing the songs Ringo does lead on. For John, Paul, and George I usually can match the notes pretty well, but Ringo is too tricky for me. I did alright on Boys, but all the other ones were not so good. Fortunately for me, you don't need to sound good to succeed at singing in the game, you just need to be able to hit highs and lows. But it's too hard for me when Ringo is singing. But go figure, I'm way better at singing in The Beatles Rock Band than singing most songs in the regular Rock Band games. I don't know if they're easier or if I'm just so used to them because I've been singing them for years.

Here is the opening cinematic to the game. It's great and it still doesn't even do the whole game justice. It's that awesome.

Britney Spears's new single 3

Britney Spears's new song 3 debuted this morning on z100. It's very catchy and is in the same vein as If U Seek Amy, both in style and lyrical content (it's about threesomes :-P). Here is the single cover artwork and the song.

LYRICS:

1, 2, 3
Not only you and me
Got one eighty degrees
And I'm caught in between
Countin'
1, 2, 3
Peter, Paul & Mary
Gettin' down with 3P
Everybody loves ***
Countin'

Babe pick a night
To come out and play
If it's alright
What do you say

Merrier the more
Triple fun that way
Twister on the floor
What do you say

Are you in
Livin' in sin is the new thing
Are you in
I am countin'

1, 2, 3
Not only you and me
Got one eighty degrees
And I'm caught in between
Countin'
1, 2, 3
Peter, Paul & Mary
Gettin' down with 3P
Everybody loves ***
Countin'

Three is a charm
Two is not the same
I don't see the harm
So are you game

Lets' make a team
Make 'em say my name
Lovin' the extreme
Now are you game

Are you in
Livin' in sin is the new thing
Are you in
I am countin'

1, 2, 3
Not only you and me
Got one eighty degrees
And I'm caught in between
Countin'
1, 2, 3
Peter, Paul & Mary
Gettin' down with 3P
Everybody loves ***

What we do is innocent
Just for fun and nothin' meant
If you don't like the company
Let's just do it you and me
You and me
Or three
Or four
On the floor

The only thing I don't like about the lyrics is the namechecking of Peter, Paul and Mary. I wouldn't care for the reference to begin with because even though I "get it" I find it unnecessary and a bit silly, especially given the kind of music they made, but it's also odd because Mary Travers happens to have just died September 16th. But it is a fun, upbeat song, and I like it a lot.

3 is the lead single off of Britney's forthcoming compilation The Singles Collection, which is out November 24th. It will be available in a standard one disc edition and an ultimate fan box set.

According to HMV Japan, there is a Japanese bonus track called It's All In The Game. And according to Wikipedia, this is a cover of the 1958 song performed by Tommy Edwards. But we all know how reliable wiki is, so we'll see.
